Financial freedom isn't about making more money; it's about becoming the person who creates it naturally. In this solo episode, Maurice breaks down the exact 10-step Freedom Plan he's followed since…
Maurice PhilogeneHostSo foundationally, before I hit the ten steps, I wanna in- introduce one foundational thought, okay? The fallacy of salary, and that's Newsletter twenty-five, The Fallacy of Salary.
You know, we go to school, we get that degree, then we get the job, then we get a salary, and then we spend it, and then at some point in the future, we retire.
That is- The societal version of status quo that we all learn through formal education and getting a job, and your job is to get the title at the job, to get the most salary.
Now we have problems in life, so let's go buy something because a car will make us feel better or a bigger house so we can compete with our friends, et cetera, et cetera.
My framework-- So the society framework is degree, job, salary, spend, retire.
My framework was degree, salary, create an income with the salary for the purpose of achieving freedom.
That's why when I started getting promotional offers, I wasn't worried about it because I had used a majority of my salary and decades of time to create an income.
Um, so I want you to understand that foundational thought that the, the job of salary is to create an income.
For some, "Hey man, I just wanna be able to retire," right? Uh, for some, it's net worth.
My definition of financial freedom over the time that I was executing my 10-step was more that I wanted to generate more passive income than I had basic expenses.
And the reason I wanted to do that, and I figured that out in my early 20s, was because I wanted access to time.
It was one of the most beautiful moments in, in my life, and it actually defined quite a bit of where I've gone.
