In this episode, I talk with **Kylie Kingston and Melissa Oakley of FedEx** about how one of the world’s largest employers transformed frontline hiring at extraordinary scale. FedEx operates in more…
But if I'm a TA leader and I want to need to improve high volume hiring in my company, Melissa, where should I start? Where should I start with this?
I would absolutely start with the problem you're trying to solve, right? What is your business problem? What are you trying to achieve? Not starting with the technology.
Some organizations need speed, some need specialized talent, some need flexibility.
You really need to understand what business outcomes you're trying to achieve first, then decide your process, then determine which technology has the capabilities to really help support what you're trying to accomplish.
Yeah, and I feel like that, as I said earlier, that's kind of a common theme with both of you is it seems like it's very much a business first, which is what I imagine.
Why are people challenging some HR rollout of some program if it's not helping us I feel like it probably doesn't get funded, right? Or it's very hard to get funded.
It feels like it would be that kind of culture, which was a little bit of how Amazon was for me when I worked there years ago too.
And if this isn't helping us get there, why are we doing it? You know, it's not just, we don't really care about generic best practices.
And if we need speed and scale, then show me how this does speed and scale and we'll fund it.
And I just go back to something I said earlier is just use the data to guide you.
You know, it can be very overwhelming in the sea of options and products and solutions and.
And so really just rooting yourself in the business problem you're trying to solve, let the data drive you, you know, where is, where are you spending most of your time? Where are you spending all of your money? Um, that's going to help you, you know, the first solving the first problem.
And I would say that's something that I'm really passionate about, especially, you know, in this new role and we have a bigger remit and it's just, we need to focus on the next problem because otherwise you can be very overwhelmed by the sea of opportunities that there are to chase.
