What happens when the people inside an organisation stop waiting for answers and start thinking, choosing and creating for themselves? Heather McGonigal is CEO and co-founder of Empowering Leadership…
So what is empowering leadership teams? Like if you were to define who you are and how you serve CEOs and corporations, like what's the essence of it?
The rate of change, which has only increased with AI coming into all things, right? So we need empowered thinkers in all levels of your organization.
So what we do as a company is we help train and develop your team to think like the CEO about the business from whatever role they fill in your organization.
It really just, you know, it makes everyone be more empowered as they're in the day to day, which allows everyone to better deal with things as they happen in real time, which saves you a lot of money and headaches.
So where did you first see that people weren't being strategic thinkers and thinking like a CEO?
Well, being a business consultant and coach is, I guess, my second or third career at this point.
I've now been in it for a decade and I found it very interesting coming into this career and recognizing there's different ways that people go about doing their role.
And in larger companies, there were definitely people that I met as a coach who had the perspective of waiting for their boss to tell them how they wanted things to be done.
Kind of like, I haven't heard yet what their decision is and I'm waiting to see.
versus people that were hard driving and made decisions and moved things forward and kept kind of prompting for answers even when they weren't getting them, right? Because they knew things had to move.
There's different approaches, but the more empowered approach is what is needed today.
So I saw that you couldn't really sit back and continue to thrive in your career inside of today's business environment.
You had to be somebody that wouldn't just wait for the answers to come down from above or wherever they might be coming from.
And so this is something you train those that maybe aren't so naturally inclined to do that, to step into that way of thinking and pulling things into their space, is it?
And I think ultimately out of all the people that I've met and I've worked primarily with companies that are remote or fully remote or have gone or went remote over COVID and then stayed remote or have remained hybrid.
So I've worked with a lot of remote teams and I have seen such hardworking team members And the thing that I see that they have in common is this drive.
