Misha from Winni Designs has built one of the biggest audiences in construction - 4.2M on TikTok, 1.7M on Instagram, 1.26M on YouTube, and 4.6M on Facebook. This week, Michael and Ian find out how he…
So do you, um, so where you're at today, do you do any subcontracting work or are you primarily doing your own projects and filming them?
Subcontracting meaning what, like working for other, like on other sites? I
no so in the last what like now two years it's been our own projects and that's kind of our goal our goal is to have like a portfolio of houses that we can just bounce around and essentially do our because it we take too long everything's too slow the way we film it because it's basically one guy renovating something and uh When we were doing the bathrooms for clients, you know, it's good money if it takes four weeks.
Plus, you're stuck in a situation where like you can't really have the creative freedom of doing something fun with the designs and things like that.
So the moment we were able to kind of reach that tipping point where we were making enough money from brand deal sponsors and just views where we could just work on our own projects, work at our own house, buy our own properties, that was an even bigger unlock for us because then we could take our time and we could bounce around a little bit more.
So at the beginning you said you, you started doing, um, like before you started filming, you did bathroom rentals primarily.
I mean, There's that part of it, but then there's the part of it where I dropped out of college and then started a construction company.
Yeah, but right before the content phase, we were doing bathrooms, and we... put ourselves in a niche of just doing bathrooms and uh it was kind of refreshing to a lot of the homeowners because where we live everybody does everything so it's one of those things where it's like yeah i'll build you a deck and i'll do your bathroom and i'll you know put a kitchen in for you and all this stuff uh where we were like no we're just doing bathrooms we were doing the design uh catherine was actually doing all the design work 3d renderings and uh We had a little tile studio where people would come and look at their design and pick out tile and stuff.
It was more of a question of what can you do and how well can you do it and that type of stuff.
