We're back after a short break with an hour long Q&A answering your questions! The Tom's Talks Podcast is a place where we speak to a vast array of people from different walks of life and find out…
So what's one thing that you would tell your younger self? That's a great question.
I think this is an interesting one because I talk a lot about this and one of my values as a person is I will always strive to be the person today that Tom from 10 years ago needed and I say that in the respect of I'm 30 now and at 20 years old was the year that I lost my brother Liam to suicide and I was in a dark place myself and I really really struggled for the years following that And I know that the person I am today, my values, how I show up day to day and the work that I put in on myself and what I've done for other people and how I treat other people, if I had me next to me 10 years ago, I don't think I'd have made quite as many mistakes.
And also I'll be the person today that when I look back at myself in 10 years' time, Can I say that I was proud of the decisions that I made? Was I proud of the actions that I took? Was I proud of the dad that I was? Was I proud of the husband that I was, the friend that I was, the family man that I was? And that's how I will always live a life, looking at those values.
How has becoming a father changed you? In all honesty, I don't think it has changed me that much.
I think that before Daisy was born, I was so committed to always being the best version of myself and always doing as much as I could for other people, being the best husband that I could.
I think it's just changed myself now because everything that I do moving forward, it's not just for me and Amy, it's for her.
I'd probably say it's an extra level of motivation and it's an extra reason why.
The best deal in the world, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I've changed that much.
Well, if you'd have heard what my office was saying to me this morning, then you'd realise that I quite quickly get humbled.
Support network, I've got amazing people around me that tell me when I'm doing good and tell me when I'm not doing so good.
You hang around with five people that are happy, successful, ambitious and doing well in life and they want the best for you, your life will change in a significant way.
The work that I've been doing, I've had a number of messages and I've had people come up to me, you know, just walking down the street.
