Sometimes the thing keeping your business from growing isn't another strategy, funnel, or marketing tactic, it's you. In this episode, we're breaking down four reasons you may be unconsciously…
The first one is that you're scared to sell.
And this is something that I'm so guilty of.
And it sounds so silly when you say out loud, because you would think like, obviously, if you have a business, you have to sell, right? Like it's like, that should be like the most obvious thing that you have to do.
But I think so many of us struggle with this deep rooted fear of what it actually means to sell a product.
And I'm someone that like, I'm so great at giving things out for free, right? It's like, I'm like, I make all this content for free.
I post the podcast for free.
It's like I make free community groups.
But then the second it comes to actually being like, OK, well, now you need to buy this.
I'm like, oh, well, I don't want to ask people to buy something from me.
But the reality is, is like you are offering value.
And the second you make that mindset shift and it's something that I've had to drastically shift in my brain is going, I'm not just selling people something to sell people something so that I can just make a ton of money.
It's knowing like you are offering a ton of value that you deserve to get paid for that.
And that other people deserve to have this value and to have a solution to their problems.
So I think a huge part of that is really looking at your product or at your service and going, is this something that I actually feel is valuable? And do I actually feel like this is going to help people? Because when you can make your product something that you value so, so much and you genuinely feel like this can help other people, you lose the friction when it comes to selling because now you're no longer selling and asking for money.
You're selling because you're like, this thing is going to actually change someone's life.
And when I started to look at even the things within my business as that, I was like, oh, I'm not actually like asking from a negative place I'm asking from a place of like pure authenticity of being like I believe in this so much and I genuinely feel like this is going to change your life and it makes it easier to go no it's normal to sell this to someone because when you stop looking at it as selling and more of a value exchange it makes it so much easier to actually move through that process and knowing like if other people also because the thing is the reality is is we can have these mindset shifts right but people externally might still be like oh my god like I can't believe she's trying to sell a course or she's trying to sell a guy like why can't you just give it out for free it's like they have their own problems internally in their in their own limiting beliefs that is just a reflection of themselves when they comment that on your page or whatever it is that you're posting because that's something too where I feel like in the past I would get a comment like that and it would really affect me where I'd be like oh, well, maybe they're right.
Should I be giving this for free? Should I not be asking people for money for this? And it's like, no, no, no, that's not true at all.
I am giving so much value out and you are giving out a ton of information for free that people should want to give you money, give you value in exchange for your value.
And if people don't see that, that's just not your customer and that's just not your client and that's also okay.
And this is something that I see a lot with even just influencers.
Like maybe they're not trying to sell guides, but they'll make all this content for free, right? And then people will be like, oh, like you posted a brand deal.
Like, oh, sell out.
Like, why are you posting brand deals? Why are you doing this? But it's like, you guys, they're posting so much content for free all the time.
It's like, you would think that you, if you're like a loyal follower to that person and you genuinely enjoy their content, if anything, you should help engage with that to be like, That's like the thank you is being like they're able to create the quality of content that you like to consume on a daily basis.
That's mainly not something you have to pay for in order.
