The Yarniacs Episode 381: Strange Knitting Comments

What have you been stocking?

Well, the first thing I am stocking, we were together on Monday, and one of our new friends was wearing a shawl called the Brush Creek Shawl by Carina Spencer.

I had to look it up.

Right when we were at the library, I, I was looking it up on my phone, and when I got home, I finally Took a look at the pattern page and saw that it was a pattern from 2014.

Mm-hmm.

So it's 12 years old, and I'm not even sure this designer is even active in the community anymore, because I tried to find something new from her online, and her Instagram account looked like it had been kind of abandoned.

And then the website that was listed on the pattern page is offline as-

Oh

... at least it was as of yesterday.

So I have no idea if this designer is still knitting, designing, et cetera.

But the pattern for the Brush Creek Shawl does appear to be still available.

So I thought I'd talk about it today, because I really liked it.

It is a very basic feather and fan triangular shawl.

The pattern page calls it a chevron rather than a feather and fan.

But I always think of chevrons as having sharper points, and feather and fan is more rounded.

Mm-hmm.

But as you'll hear about in a little bit, this, this whole thing sent me on a deep dive to find out what exactly is feather and fan-

... and what is chevron.

[laughs] But I did like the roundness and the softness created by the feather and fan pattern.

I like the shape of it.

And she had the sample that, or the, the finished project that we saw, she had done it in a set of, a gradient set.

Mm-hmm.

So it went from darker to lighter, and it was f- it was very nice.

It was gorgeous.
