Less than 3 years after Ninoy’s assassination, the Filipino people went to the streets in a non-violent mass protest called the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution and ended the two-decade Marcos dictatorship. In 2022, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the ousted dictator's son, was elected president and returned to Malacañang. What should we learn from the people who helped topple the Marcos dictatorship? How can we treat the project of building a more just and free society as an intergenerational responsibility?
