California Governor Gavin Newsom signed in legislation to force businesses with historic ties to chattel slavery to disclose records by 2029... just after the 2028 election cycle. Get exclusive deals…
Uh, one quick thing I want to talk about today, uh, as far as topics go, uh, and I saw this story.
Uh, so, uh, Gavin Newsom, who keeps telling us he's not running for president, everything's pointing to he is running for president, has done another thing here that's clearly marking that he's getting ready to run for president.
Uh, the latest thing about not running for president, of course, was he said if Kamala Harris runs, he won't run out of respect for her.
We all discussed this right here on the show, that we knew that was just a sign that at some point we were gonna get an indicator that she was not gonna be running for president, that that would come out.
There's people who previously worked for her on her staff that said she's not running again.
So I feel like this latest bit of news is another indicator that Gavin Newsom is getting ready to run again.
Uh, and it basically says that companies that have over $100 million in annual receipts, they have to, uh, submit, uh, sworn affidavits for, uh, by 2029, and it basically says, um, if you have a, uh, a company, a corporation that has some sort of, uh, historical tie to chattel slavery, you have to... all this has to come out.
Uh, this is one of those things where, uh, it's kind of to, to push it in motion, push it in motion past, uh, the next presidential election.
So it's gonna be something that if someone who was the governor of California wanted to brag about this and spike the football, "Look what I did, I signed this," uh, you know, that he has time to do that, uh, before it even happens.
So another indicator that that's probably where things are headed, uh, for Gavin Newsom, uh, the candidate.
Um, I do think it would be interesting, and, and I understand where, you know, we do have some companies that do have ties to it, that have a long-term legacy of profits and things that were built on from that.
Um, I don't know where all this falls into the, uh, well, this is a move towards reparations thing.
Um, I do think, um, if, if that's the move here and that's what's going on, and you're saying, well, companies have to show their ties as a company towards this.
I do think if, if ultimately, uh, the, the people in California are saying, well, reparations is the goal, I think anyone that receives reparations, uh, maybe should have some sort of a, a DNA check as well that could say, well, you know, ancestry that did experience this.
