🎙️ **THE WEEKLY SPLIT PODCAST | EPISODE 13** **Special Guests: Cammie & Lauren - Phase 7** In Episode 13 of The Weekly Split, we're joined by Cammie and Lauren from Phase 7 for a conversation about…
Lee TynanHostOne quick thing I was going to ask you is, obviously now at the moment, you'll see this, that, like, volume is the hot topic of, like, who can do the most hours.
You know, last year it was who can do 20 hours.
This year it seems to be who can do 25 hours a week.
Do
you have a source of push in that sort of volume or do you not believe in it? I've got maybe four or five people that I would let train between 15 and 20 hours.
That's about it.
I don't have many, but I have a few.
Yeah, I think it's each to their own, isn't it? I think a lot of our guys, other than Gabs, who does still work, by the way, all of our team are not, they're all full-time, like they work full-time, so they're not full-time paid athletes.
So for us, finding the balance, and this again comes down to what we were saying before about knowing your people and what they can handle.
20 hours for some of our lot would be absolutely absurd like they're pushing eight nine hours a week so it's knowing what yeah the capacity is if I'm not saying I'm not an advocate for it but for our lot who do work full-time you know a lot of them have kids and a lot of them are you know they've got other like their own businesses so it's not just a case of switching off even when you go home like some of them will be like George for example when he's I've spent time with him outside of what you know like traveling to the races and stuff like that his phone never fucking stops so When you're switching off in your own time, a lot of them aren't switched off.
Like a lot of them are, they've got, you know, like they've got trade jobs or like girls who are like teachers who take the stress on, there's like work and stuff like that.
It's doing 15 to 20 hours a week for our lot is not, it's just not doable.
Doing it, you know, like working it wisely and stuff like that, I think.
if Gabs has got a lot more Gabs has probably got the most volume and she which is fine because she's been able to step away from doing in some ways I'm like I would say like in
some ways um I'm a good coach and then other ways like if you compare it to somebody like calculating hours I don't give a flying fuck I put it on the program and that's what you've got to do Do you know what I mean? Like, you know, some people calculate, you know, you've got to do this many hours and this many.
I actually don't know.
Couldn't even fucking tell you if I tried.
What I do know is I program what Gabby needs to get to the top five in, you know, in the Elite 15.
And that is the journey that she's on.
And like, we've tweaked so many programs, haven't we? Gabby's probably like 14, 15 hours a week.
now at the minute yeah when you see because that's because basically obviously I'll I'll program and then shirt with Camille and be like you know run her eyes over because obviously we've got such a breadth of people training now it's always good to see where we're at you know some of it is for Gabs is like the some of the hours are like station hours you know where she's just on a bike or she's having a minute and like you know print the uh recovery you know some of it is most important some of her training is actually involved in a recovery sessions isn't it more so she's ready for her other ones yeah i mean i know i don't have a particular opinion because a lot of people no matter how many hours the training they're not eating enough and not sleeping enough is training the right thing or is fucking eating and sleeping the right thing and we have station all attack like we do don't we especially with girls and some of the lads that come on board and they're like me train more i need to do this and i'm we had it this week one of the lads was running and i went you know over training just straight um off the bat and he just looked at me and i was like and you can always see it you can see it do you know i mean over a period of time when performance is going downhill they look a bit pale in skin it's one of them where people always want more but sometimes less is definitely
more
it depends
it's like more isn't better better is better is what i always say because you do And it's that

jump in it, like trying to avoid them going from eight hours to 15 all of a sudden because they've seen it on socials and things.
