We create myths about ourselves, our origins, our experiences, the people we believe ourselves to be, the town we grew up in, the school we attended, what we did, who we knew.

All of these become stories that we recount to ourselves and others, weaving a tapestry that expresses who we are.

But the threads we sew together aren't always as bright and straight as they should be.

We embellish the tales and hide the truth in the stitches.

Over time, even the storyteller forgets which parts are true.

The heroes and the villains become indistinguishable.
