Anyway, verse 13 to 35, I'm going to summarize a little bit of it and pull some verses out, like I said.
So they're two guys.
They're disciples.
They're talking between themselves about everything that has happened in the last few days.
And what's happened is... is that the religious leaders and the leaders of the Jewish people at the time had just handed Jesus over to the Romans to be scourged and whipped.
And then he was crucified.
He died on that cross.
And then he was put in the grave.
And they're talking about this.
He joins them.
He joins into the conversation.
What are you talking about? He's asking them.
And one of the guys called Cleopas says, are you the only one? who's been around these days, who doesn't know what's happened.
And then the chief priests, they handed him over, sentenced him to death and crucified him.
We had hoped, that's a key phrase for you to just hold in your head.
We had hoped that he would rescue us, that he would save us.
Basically, wanting to be saved from the Roman rule and the cruelty of that time, they wanted someone to come and rescue them.
But then they go, we'd hoped he was going to redeem us.
But what's more, it's the third day today when this has taken place.
In addition, some of the women have amazed us.
