It is very famously known in the US, anyway, for being a Studio Ghibli anime that came out in 1989, if I remember correctly.

And has relatively recently gotten an American translation, or an English translation, I should say.

And there's another book in the series being translated and coming out in a month or so.

So we might... have plans to go and revisit that one when that comes out in a few months
the book was released this book was first released in japan in japan in 1985.
97 was when walt disney did the uh produced the english dub so okay yeah i remember watching the anime before walt disney dub uh in anime club when i was in university uh exchanging VHS tapes and getting it there with subtitles done by fans.
And then when Walt Disney got the rights for Studio Ghibli, there was a good distribution for it.
