Is it about compensation that you want it? You want to make more money to be an equity partner or you just want to be a partner? Because you can structure it where they can make as much as if they had equity, but you retain decision-making, you retain 100% of the equity.
I talk to a lot of attorneys that run firms and you would be super surprised with how many of them have partners that aren't equity partners.
That's by far more common than you see partner it's more likely than not that they don't have equity in the firm.
