Tom once again yanks the reins to this nano-carriage as he leads us back in time while being forward in time to the pastoral planet of Ambrosia, where we meet Lolli (Leah), William (Brian), BETHANY…
Amongst the thousands of planets that run along the Promethean Highway, there are few that stand out from the rest.
Roses amongst the thorns.
So vast the array of planets that span the galaxy, so many ripe for the terraforming process of the ever-hungry beast that is expansion.
A beast that's only satisfied by further devouring the unknown.
Yet...
As the whims and wants of the powerful press ever further into the bleak and dark unknown of space, ever starving for more, other beasts linger, long dormant, waiting to clash.
Humanity has discovered that these creatures are ravenous, far more so than themselves, and they too can see these roses amongst the thorns, along this convenient highway of outward expansion.
One such rose is where our tale takes place today.
While terraforming is a true miracle of science, allowing humanity to expand unceasingly by turning practically any convenient rock into a colony, some worlds need no such treatment.
Some are so rich with all the markers of life and the resources to sustain it.
Amongst those rare worlds...
There are some, even fewer, where those resources are so abundant of such rare quality that they are kept secret and away from the rest.
For say what you will about the wonders of the future, a truth that is ever present now in the deep future of the darkness of space is the same as it was at the dawn of time.
What makes the leaps and bounds of advancement so incredible is that they are inaccessible to most and provide leverage for far more.
Welcome, everybody, to Platinum Class Planet 002, otherwise known as Ambrosia, a small planet close to the heart of power along the Promethean Highway where life is simple.
A marble saturated with various shades of blues and greens that sits amidst an ocean of black, save for the several moons that circle the planet, which act as small pearlescent companions to Ambrosia.
The sun, which Ambrosia orbits, is young and large, keeping the climate on the planet hot and welcoming during the long, fertile summers, and crisp during the winters.
The people on the planet live simple lives of cultivation.
Large cities based upon various forms of agriculture dot this planet, from coastal fishing cities to central townships for harvesting wheat and grain, not to mention the countless others for procuring high-quality woods, mushrooms, and other forage, raising livestock and beasts of burden, like training horses for the rich, and various other creatures.
Needless to say, true to its name, Ambrosia is a planet of bounty.
And upon this planet of bounty, we find ourselves in the city of Borenton.
Named for the first lord of this land, a Canar Borenton.
A vast township complete with a meadery, a small tavern for what few travelers there are, and of course, nearly four dozen lovely homes fit for growing families.
Their thatched roofs are maintained by scant workers throughout the town, while many others commit themselves to the farms and forests and forages of abundance nearby.
Life in Barrington is balanced.
