I'm Corey Choi, founder of The Dash, Emmy Award-winning sound mixer, and owner at Silver Sound Studios in New York City.

What if we started an audio competition where contestants only had 48 hours to create a two-minute piece? And what if the pieces had to be 100% created from scratch? Meaning no preexisting music, no archival material, no sound effects libraries, and now no generative AI.

That idea became the biannual Sonic Dash, where twice a year, every solstice, Contestants from all over the world respond to a surprise prompt and create imaginative and wildly inventive short audio pieces over the course of a weekend.

Up for grabs is a $1,000 cash prize and tons of industry-defining software and professional audio equipment, recording equipment.

And on the Sonic Dash podcast, we're taking you behind the scenes for the winning pieces.

You'll hear about genius audio tricks, creative solutions, making sound effects, and all the stories behind the scenes about how our finalists create audio magic from scratch.

So let's kick things off by listening to our grand prize-winning piece, Gopher Broke, or Gopher Broke by Tales from the Cloud Sea.
