We're back! It's a full house on the Shark Tank Season Preview as we look at new signings, leavers we may miss, expectations for the season and a word from the boss…
[on hold music] Hello, everybody.
Welcome back inside the Shark Tank.
After a long summer off, we are back, and we are very excited to preview the new season.
My name is Alex.
I'm delighted to say that it's a full house in the Shark Tank this time round, which, uh, feels like it's been a while, but we've got Jack, Tom, and James joining me.
Um, so I won't go around and ask you how all your summers were, but feel free to let me know as we-- when the first time you speak.
Uh, but yeah, this is our season preview, so I'm very excited.
Um, has anyone, you know, done anything interesting over the summer that they wanna mention to kick us off, or is everyone just desperate for Sale Sharks to get playing again as we sit here, uh, with one Prem Rugby Cup game under our belt?
Mo-mostly just tried not to melt, uh-
[chuckles]
... for most of it.
[chuckles] Wasn't the most enjoyable.
Uh, but no, fairly quiet for me.
Don't know if anyone else has done anything exciting.
Pre-pretty happy I've not been in...
I mean, it's been a long time since I've been in pre-season.
Uh, I'm not gonna tell the-
[chuckles]
... listeners exactly how, how many years.
But, uh, this would've been an absolute nightmare moving from just, like...
It would've been the only pre-season I'd have been happy just to keep with a bleep test, 'cause no one wants to be moving to contact and hitting the deck on the, the state of the grounds that they've been, right?
On, on the concrete.
Yeah.
[chuckles]
Yeah.
And of course, a l-lot of the, uh, you know, grassroots rugby has had its start pushed back, but thankfully the rain has returned.
Um, but it was never gonna impact Sale anyway.
Professional rugby, unimpacted, but I'm still pretty sure that the pre-season was pretty rough in 38-degree temperatures.
I mean, if you can run in that, you can run in absolutely anything.
[chuckles]
Sure.
I mean, it's got more-
I mean, the Fi- the Fiji- the Fijians have been lulled into a terrible false sense of security.
[laughing]
Yeah, move over here, and it's 38 degrees every day, and then suddenly the rain comes.
See, they've been wandering around like, "Don't know what everyone's on about.
It's quite nice." [chuckles]
Yeah.
The ne- the next nine months are gonna be a terrible, terrible baptism of fire.
That's true, yeah
... sometimes it is the swampiest place in the world.
It might feel like home.
Swampy, but, but not, like, frozen.
[laughs]
That is true.
That is true.
[chuckles]
No.
If you've not...
If they've not had a, a game at Glossop or somewhere-
[laughing]
... you know, then it's, uh, they're not, they're not really Northwesterners just yet.
[chuckles] Yeah, no, get them...
My, uh, my sister-in-law moved to Manchester, uh, the other week for uni, and she said, "Oh, is there anything I should know?" I said, "Just always pack a raincoat, even if it's sunny outside.
Just always put a raincoat in your bag-"
Yeah.
"... 'cause you're gonna need it." So that's probably the best advice to the Fijian boys as well.
Just stick a raincoat in your bag, and probably two jumpers as well, 'cause it's gonna get cold.
