There's a conversation happening right now about weight loss medications. And almost everyone is either for them or against them. But that's not the conversation I'm interested in. What I'm curious…

So I want to talk about a conversation that's happening in the wellness and health space right now.

And I know that if you're listening to this podcast, that may or may not be something that you've considered.

But everyone's talking about them and whether they are for or against it or they're afraid of them or they're curious.

The conversation is very loaded and tangled up with so many things like diet culture, body image, access, shame, morality.

But what I am curious about and what I would love to chat about is what's happening in the brain and the nervous system when people take these medications.

Because that's not really what I'm seeing as a story being told and no one is leading with that and for a lot of people particularly women these medications don't just reduce appetite from my understanding but they create something that might feel like regulation like a quietening of the food noise or the mind and people describe things like going for walks and noticing things that they've never noticed before, for example, feeling warmth, feeling a feeling of peace, perhaps.

And sometimes this feeling of like, oh, I didn't know that this is how I could feel, which I find super interesting.

because it's pointing to something that I think is much deeper about how our nervous systems are wired, how trauma shapes our brains, and what feeling okay actually requires from a biological level.

I've been doing a lot of reading around this, and today I want to share what I've found in a way that actually makes sense.
