And it's a true story about me, but I want you to find yourself in there, and the details will be different.
But I just want to tell you that I built a table, okay? I built a table.
And when we moved into this house where we live now, there was a particular spot where my wife wanted a table and she wanted it to be a certain dimension, length and width, that was not common or not something we could find.
We wanted to be able to put two people at either end.
And most tables are built so that they're long, but on the ends you can really only put one person.
And she wanted to be able to... to fit two people on the end of that table, and it would be a little crowded, but just a little bit wider than just about everybody's table.
And we didn't think that the room was designed well for a round table, and it just needed to be a certain number of inches long and a certain number of inches wide, and it fit the space perfectly.
And I wanted to build that table.
I didn't want to buy a table.
I wanted to build it.
I like to make things.
And I found some old chestnut wood at a warehouse that a friend of mine had taken down a building that had been built in the early 1900s, and it had a lot of chestnut beams in it.
And these chestnut, the American chestnut tree went extinct in 1920, I think, due to a chestnut blight of some sort.
And we had a lot of chestnut trees on the property that my family, that my wife's family grew.
their family place, you know, in Jackson, it's a farm.
And so chestnut wood was special to me.
So I found a supply of chestnut wood and I built a table.
Now I wanna tell you that if you came to my house and you walked into the first room that you would come to, that table is sitting there And it's where we eat all of our meals, and it's where we sit and play games, and it's where we congregate.
It's right in the middle of our family room, which includes our kitchen and what used to be in the old days like a living room or a family room.
We made that all one space, and there's two fireplaces, one on either end, and that table sets in front of that fireplace.
And I want you to know, I think it's a beautiful table.
And deep in my heart, I'm going to be wanting somebody to say, man, I like this table.
Where did this table come from? Because the feeling of accomplishment that you get when you finish something, the Bible says a thing accomplished is sweet to the soul.
