Nobody designs a product for a material made out of potato peels. Sophie Tuviahu is CEO of Bioplasmar, which makes biodegradable materials from green waste. Before this, she worked in commercial…
Sophie TuviahuGuestChrisHostWhat does growth look like for Bioplasma looking forward then? Where are you going next? What are the next stepping stones? Where do you hope the company is in 12 months?

In 12 months, the company needs to be operating an additional production line.

It's a milestone to really have two production lines instead of one, okay? That's the way it works.

And the idea is for us to be in a position in which we can add the lines, not necessarily into the same plants, but maybe in a different geography.

And the idea is to have a portfolio of products related to a specific application that we can, again, cut and paste very easily to different geographies.

The idea is to have an extrusion grate that you can extrude whatever extruded sheets you need and produce thermoform products that can biodegrade quickly.

It's not only a choice, it's forced that all the warehouse clips that are used in the nurseries for the plants to hang basically the leaves, okay? These clips need to be industrial compostable, okay? Industrial compostable, it's an easy thing to do for us, okay? And therefore, I would think that if all goes well, in 2028, we will be thinking about producing this material in Spain, okay? But the question is where the clip manufacturer is.

So that's, again, the story about the long supply chains to the product and to the market.

I think that any company that has been in this market knows the importance of really getting the right amount of money at each critical point.

Bioplasmar has been very diligent and our investors have been tremendously supportive In any crucial point that we have today, we are again raising money in order to purchase the new line.

We are trying to be in a position in which we materialize the pipeline that we are growing so that we don't need to rely on investors in order to keep the growth.

But the idea is really to be in a position in which you deliver on your promises.

And our investors are supportive to the point at which I cannot be thankful enough.
