Amanda Nell EdgarHostHow on earth do we string together 50 or 60 or 100,000 words to get that book to be the expectation that your reader has? There is so much pressure just to meet the bare minimum of what a book is, let alone create that excellent book that I know you have in mind.
and oftentimes i find that folks get really frustrated and feel as though they have to pick kind of a simpler version of their book to be able to accomplish it now i'm talking here specifically about what i call a hybrid memoir now a hybrid memoir combines the more traditional format of a memoir meaning it is a slice of your life told in a single book with a more prescriptive nonfiction approach where not only are we getting that story but we're also getting some of the nuggets of wisdom that you gathered through living that story and then of course through coming back and analyzing it later but i find that those often feel like two different book projects to folks and i find that often folks will flip-flop between wanting to write a memoir wanting to write a more traditional leadership business book self-help style of book and there really is no reason to choose i have in fact built my whole career on helping people to combine these two purposes of their book to both tell a really engaging story ideally a story that reads like fiction that your reader won't be able to put down but also to use that story to teach, to use that story to spread your mission, to use that story, yes, this is not selfish, to get more leverage for yourself, to get in front of bigger audiences, to speak and get paid what you deserve to get paid for it, to bring in more clients who are so excited to work with you.
All of the things that books can bring you can come from either prescriptive nonfiction or a memoir.
So as I said in the teaser, today I want to really break down a three-step process, one, two, three, that's going to get you through structuring that narrative, but also weaving in some of these expert ideas that I know you really want to showcase and highlight.
Really make sure that you can pull out four of those book talks, for those keynote addresses, and of course, to teach your reader.
