Text us a comment or question! For years, we've been told that getting older means slowing down. Less energy. More medications. Fewer adventures…
And to be honest, I've been working on writing a book, and it's caused me to really stop and evaluate where I am right now and the crazy journey that got me to where I am right now.
My, my goal was really to help people lose weight, to help them build some muscle, to help them do things like lower their blood pressure and improve their cholesterol and get healthier.
But after coaching hundreds and hundreds of people over the years, something started happening that, that really completely changed my perspective.
I'd ask a new client, "So, what brings you here?" And typically, I'd get something like this: "Kevin, I really wanna lose 30 pounds," or whatever.
But as we would keep talking, as the conversation got a little deeper, we'd get past the numbers, and I'm telling you, something more profound almost always comes out.
They'd say things like, "I wanna be able to get down on the floor and play with my grandkids and get back up without making all those weird old person noises." Or they'd say something like, "My husband and I wanna travel when we retire, but right now I'm worried I won't be, I won't be physically able to keep up." Or, "Look, I'm tired of being exhausted all the time," or, "I wanna feel confident again," or, "I don't wanna end up like my dad or end up like my mom.
I wanna grow old, but I don't wanna feel old." So I'd start hearing those kinds of conversations after we got past the superficial, "Hey, I'd like to drop 20 pounds, 30 pounds," whatever that number is, right? And that's when it hit me.
But really what they want at our age bracket is the freedom that stronger muscles provide.
Nobody gets excited about lowering their A1C number, but they do get excited about having enough energy and health to chase their grandkids around the backyard.
See, I've come to this place where this realization's kinda settling on me here that health isn't the destination.
I mean, when I started this mission, health was 100% the destination, optimal health for this age demographic.
I'm shifting my, my framework here, and I'm believing that health is what allows you to live the life that you actually want, to live life to the full.
