In this series, we're starting with the 223, which is fantastic to learn your wind readings on because that little bullet gets blown around the farther, farther out you go with it.
Once we take what we've learned with the 223, we're gonna move up to the 6.5 Creedmoor.
I consistently hit 1,000 yards with my first shot with a 6.5 Creedmoor more than any other round I've ever used.
But I want a consistent shot, which is why once we take what we've learned from the Savage 6.5 Creedmoor, we're gonna move up to the 300 PRC.
Now, talking about all this, our next steps are to talk about how we control the rifle.
Um, more cartridges out there can do what we're attempting, but we made these selections for a reason, and that's part of the Quest to a Mile series.
If you've never shot before, listen very closely to what we're talking about in this specific video, uh, because it's gonna save you a lot of headaches, except for wind.
Um, wind is going to be one of your biggest challenges, but we're gonna walk you through wind later on in this course, and we're gonna go step by step on how to read the wind at the different ranges.
So if I'm shooting at 1,000 yards, I wanna get my initial wind reading at where I'm at, and then at 500 yards, I wanna read mirage, wind patterns, and direction, and then do the exact same thing at the target.
Uh, one of my proud shots is I hit 1,000 yards with my very first shot in 25 mile per hour wind on a rifle that I had never touched before.
Stepped up, chambered it, asked my spotter where the, uh, recommended wind hold was, and I placed that wind hold in, looked at the target and what I saw there, and made my corrections, fired, and nailed it.
That is here on YouTube and in other locations, and there's a link to that shot, it's a short video, uh, in the description as well.
