240 | Mythology in The House of Hades w/ Dr. Moiya McTier

Anyway, Percy Jackson, let's talk about what's at least my job.

We're going to be covering all of the myths that came up and confused me in the House of Hades.

We did the classic situation where I went through all my notes, I control F'd for Moya, and I had 10 things that I sent you in an email.

And we're going to make our way through the list.

So the first question was, what's the deal with the Kirkhopes? They were, at least in the Percy Jackson books, a duo of twin monkey question mark guys who who dressed all funkily and enjoyed messing with people and like shiny things and wreaked havoc first for our heroes and then for their enemies.

But what's up with our Kirk Hopi friends? And if the two that we run across are famous or just new ones, Pasalos and I forget the other guy's name already.

There

it is.

That's the one.

That's the one.

Yeah, it's interesting because they have different names according to different writers, but those two names are some of the most common.

They are brothers.

I think Uncle Rick might have added that they're twins just to get them closer.

They are the sons of Oceanus, so the titan of the fresh waters that encircle the globe, and Thea.

Although I couldn't tell if it was Thea, the titaness of like sight and brightness or Or Thea, an Ethiopian princess.

So that's unclear.

I'm assuming Titan of sight and brightness because I feel like they make some sort of comment about their parents being big, scary, ancient folk.

So no Ethiopia mentioned.

So I'm guessing I'm guessing Titan.

OK, great.

Yeah, they are liars.

They're cheats.

They're thieves.

They once tried to steal something from Heracles.

Oh, wow.
