EP413 My Top 10 Reasons YOU Should Hunt Ducks

Number one, I think that duck hunting is an all-American pastime.

It's a classic tradition dating back generations.

There's a rich culture of duck hunting, particularly in certain parts of the country.

It is something that people have been doing for a long time.

People have been hunting ducks even before the shotgun was invented.

Duck hunting is just something that has a deep tradition, deep roots, goes back a long time.

And there's a lot of interesting things in the traditions of duck hunting.

You could go back.

There's books that are written on the subject.

I bought a book about hunting and decoys and things like that that was written many years ago that had some really awesome insights about what people did and how they thought and how they looked at it a long time ago.

And I'm just super fascinated by it.

But the bottom line is...

It is just something that has deep roots in our nation and not just this nation.

Chances are, if you're listening to this episode, the majority of you are in the U.S., but many other countries have had long, rich pastimes of going after ducks.

Number two, business.

Birds are absolutely gorgeous.

There are some ducks that look so stunning.

I can't even believe the first time I saw a wood duck, I was just like, what in the world? I was just blown away.

I could not believe it.

And there are so many varieties of ducks.

When I first began hunting, I was going through my state's Hunter Trapper Digest, and they had the bag limits for 10 different kinds of ducks.

And I was like, I didn't know that there were 10 kinds of ducks on planet Earth.

I did not know at that time that there were that many varieties of ducks.

And I later found out that's not all the varieties of ducks.

Those are just the ones that my state puts limits on how many you can shoot in a given day.
