There is a particular kind of weariness that settles into the body and the spirit when we treat our outer circumstances as stubbornly fixed.

We believe that if we just apply enough force from the outside, something will finally give.

When we forget this, we find ourselves locked in a battle with what Seth calls a paper dragon.

Paper dragons are something that looks formidable, that appears to have weight and power, yet has no true substance of its own.

All the energy we pour into fighting it is spent on a reflection rather than on the source that projects the reflection.

The moment we remember that the outer condition is a symbol rather than a permanent fact, the entire dynamic shifts.

The energy that was being spent in resistance can return inward where the real movement has always originated.

"If, however, you imagine that the environment or physical condition is the reality, then you can feel trapped by it and spend your efforts fighting a paper dragon.

There is instant feedback between the interior and exterior conditions, but the mobility, the necessity, and the method of changing the physical environment will always come from within." That's from Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul.
