Good news! Gary, Pearl, and Lune finally catch up with Sisna at the circus! The bad news? People who enter the Big Top have a tendency to never leave. As the Custodians are swept deeper into the…
Our episode starts with the sound of the beating of the humongous, oversized ears of our Dumbo escorts for our big top arrangement here.
We hear the wind whistling past.
We have little pennant banners whipping in the breeze.
We hear the crunch of peanuts underfoot, peanuts and peanut shells underfoot of all the different goers of the circus going along the midway.
But all of that's in the distance.
We're standing here on the very edge of one of our many elephants.
There is a ladder which descends down from our perspective, seemingly infinitely up here in the sky.
And there is one I was going to say, man, but we've got one being that is here standing atop this lonely mount, waiting at the edge of the big top, waiting here on the back of this elephant, waiting here at the top of this ladder with a small cart adorned with bold, exciting letters.
Hot dogs.
And I'm sitting on top underneath a small red glowing lamp, a series of laid out dogs fresh in their buns, quickly growing stale underneath this warming light, waiting for eager circus goers to enjoy or suffer them, depending on how how they care for for these meaty, meaty dogs.
And we immediately get a response to this waiting figure, that of first Joy Ackerman clambering up over the ledge of this ladder onto the back of the elephant, pulling herself on hand by hand.
We see her legs kind of dangling free behind her as she leverages herself onto the back.
She casts a glance up at the hot dog man who smiles down with his red and yellow colored glasses, a sort of warm, knowing smile and Joy, her face kind of at first creased from exertion as she's been pulling herself up hand over hand to the top here.
The moment she meets his gaze, her face breaks out in a warm smile, equal or greater even than his.
She immediately, as if finding new energy in her tired bones, rolls her body forward, pushes herself almost unnaturally easily up onto the palms of her hands.
without a goodbye, without any further statement, begins to walk hand over hand towards the rear of the big top.
As she is beginning to disappear over the hump of the elephant towards the tent, we have our next hand over hand Pearl clambering up on, quickly followed by Lunae, and we hear below just some grunts of Gary catching up to these two kids.
These kids are...
Come on, Mr. Gary.
Oh, you two are a little too quick for me.
But, you know, I'm getting there.
Hold your horses, eh? Hey, when I get there, I get there.
Pearl's going to take a second at the top of the ladder and, like, survey the scene.
Yeah, you're the next to peak up over the top.
We haven't set a height for the hot dog man.
