Saving money and contributing to a 401(k) may seem like the safe financial path, but where you keep your money matters. Hannah Kesler explains how inflation can quietly erode cash sitting in the bank…
So we got to think about where are you storing your wealth at right now and why? Like a lot of us, you're making your money and you are probably warehousing that money at the bank.
And I hate to break it to y'all, but that money that's just sitting at the bank it ain't doing much for you.
When you take your money and you go place that deposit at the bank, That bank is using your money and they're lending out your money back to you and to other people.
Because think about it, the bankers don't just have your money sitting in the back in their vault And there's a little black box back there that has your name on it.
And they just go and place your money in that black box and then wait until you come back and retrieve it.
They're using your money and they're lending it out to you and other people to buy houses, buy cars, fund startup companies, et cetera, et cetera, you know? So we've got to start getting into the mindset of thinking like a banker and how to use our money to work for us.
How can I use good debt, good leverage instead of just continuing to go and play it safe? Because like a lot of us, you know, we've been taught to go get the good grades, you find a stable job, you save up your money, invest in your retirement, and then someday in the future, the government will be there and somebody will be taking care of you.
That's giving up the control, is it not? I want to be in control of the choices and the decisions that I'm making for myself.
So I'm not telling y'all to... stop doing what you're doing right now, okay? Because I know a lot of y'all who have been following the channel, you know, we've gotten into the conversations of the retirement accounts and 401ks and should I be doing this with my money too? And I have my opinions on those specific qualified accounts.
And in today's episode, we're going to get... of deep into 401ks because that is the biggest mainstream retirement vehicle that a lot of american families are putting their money into but i want to have two conversations here so next week come back because i'm going to get into this conversation with the mindset of business owners and how you can utilize a better system to retain your employees to pay the expenses, the payroll, the overhead costs of the business and running the business, and how to keep the money that you're spending and not allow your money to just erode away sitting inside of a checking account at the bank.
