Have you convinced yourself that the work you truly want to do is a luxury you simply cannot afford right now? For so many accomplished women in a midlife transition, the money fear arrives in almost…
I'd like to start today with a particular fear because I hear it from almost every woman that comes to me.
She's drained, exhausted, or even bored of what she's doing, and she wants something that means more to her and gives her more joy.
And then almost in the same breath, she says it, and it's usually one form of this statement, "But Kavita, I can't afford to do what I really want to do or love to do.
I'd really love to do the work that matters more to me and that brings me happiness, but I have to be realistic." And I understand that fear completely.
The fear of not having enough money or making as much money as you currently do is real.
I had those same fears when I left my corporate career of over twenty-five years to do what I'm doing now.
And I'm going to share with you how I view it and got over that fear myself today.
I'm not telling you to ignore those fears, but I'd like you to consider a different perspective about these money fears.
They won't even let themselves picture the other life because what's the point? They couldn't afford it anyway.
I'd like you to look at it from the other side today because the question is not can you afford to follow your dreams, the question is can you afford not to? One of the best answers to this question can actually come from people at the end of their lives.
