Have you finally admitted to yourself what you want next, and immediately found that a wall of fear and doubt stands between you and actually reaching for it? On Monday, in episode 336, Kristy…
On Monday, in episode 336, I had the most wonderful conversation with Christy Halverson, and she left us with a question that really stuck with me, and I think it will with you too.
What would you do if you knew you could not get it wrong? I'd like you to think about that for a second.
What would you do if you knew with complete certainty that whatever you chose could somehow work out? If there was no such thing as failing, no such thing as looking silly or foolish, and no such thing as choosing wrong.
It takes the gremlin or the inner critic that we talked about last week, that voice that says you're not qualified enough or not ready or not allowed, and it sends it out of the room just for a moment.
And in that moment, with the fear set aside, you can finally see what you actually want.
This week, I want you to actually ask yourself that question and let yourself answer it honestly with none of the usual editing.
What would you do if you could not get it wrong? And then this is the important part.
Where are you? What does your day look like? Who are you with? What are you doing with your hands and your time and your energy? What does it feel like in your body to finally be living that life? The more real you let it become in your mind, the more it stops being a, a vague wish and starts becoming something you can actually move towards.
I want you to imagine a version of yourself a few years from now, a future you who has already made the change, already built the life you are dreaming of.
She is wiser than you are today and calmer because she is already on the other side of the fear.
I'd like you to picture her clearly and then simply ask her, "What did you do? What would you tell me to do right now? What do you know that I don't know yet?" This future version of yourself, I call her your inner mentor, and she's not a fantasy.
She is the part of you that already knows the way, the part the noise usually drowns out.
