You are anxious. But you cannot quite tell whether this anxiety is your nervous system telling you to leave, or your nervous system telling you that you are growing. Whether the relationship, the job…

Because oftentimes when we're feeling anxious, what's really happening is a part of us inside doesn't feel safe for some reason.

And I see a lot of this type of stuff online like all the time when we are talking about specifically anxiety and relationships like if you're feeling anxious like it's your anxious attachment you need to regulate yourself like very blanket advice or just like if you're feeling anxious and it's not a forward yes and it's a no and you need to leave it's like extremely unhelpful in my experience it's like both of them a blanket advice without any encouragement to get curious about perhaps why your system doesn't feel safe right now because that was what was happening for me in truth like I came home and I was like okay a part of me does not feel safe interesting now anxiety is not just one texture It's not just like, I feel anxious, therefore there must be something wrong about this situation.

And it's also not like, oh, I feel anxious, therefore I must be stretching into something good.

The only way that we can figure that out is by learning to discern the difference in ourselves and learning to figure out which camp we are sitting in at any one time.
