"Eat more protein" is good advice, but it's too vague to actually act on. In this episode, we break down what that advice actually means in practice: how much protein you really need to lose weight…
This is a super, super common challenge, right? that we're here and the general advice eat more protein it's good advice but it's way too vague and it leads to things like which is a step in the right direction people doing things like having two eggs for breakfast and thinking that they're eating a high protein breakfast And yeah, it's higher protein than having cereal.
It's not a high protein breakfast because if you have three meals per day with 12 or 13 grams of protein, you're not even hitting 40 grams of protein for the day.
And let's assume that this person is asking about this for the purposes of weight loss.
Because when it comes to weight maintenance, protein requirements do drop a little bit.
Preserve muscle, maybe build muscle, recover from workouts, minimize hunger.
There's, it's such a nuanced conversation when it comes to, you know, the, the entire implementation of that strategy of eating more protein.
Especially when there is a lot of uncertainty about, okay, well, what does that mean? What is more protein? What is an appropriate amount of protein that I actually need? And also, anybody on a GLP-1, protein becomes important for the same reasons that we went into before.
I think it was two episodes ago when we talked about strength training for GLP-1 users.
