From the work that you do, Louisa, why do you think that this topic is important now?
I think that it's always important, but I think that the current environment with geopolitical pressures, with increased regionalization, increased terror constraints, etc., are strengthening those fears in people to stick to what they know.
All the trackings we get reconfirm all the time now that actually people are gaining less and less trust in the global establishment.
Well, actually, I say that, but interestingly, if you're in the global south, that's not the fact.
They have moved from a space of being curious about it to much more being fearful about it.
I think the media headlines and the narrative that gets pushed is, of course, fueling to quite some extent.
We also need to recognize that most news is today consumed through social media channels, 53% globally.
Of course, in the Western Hemisphere, that number is higher than the global average elsewhere.
Instead of saying, well, that's true, but have you also thought about this? The algorithm will reconfirm what you do.
That, by nature, the construct, the algorithmic reinforcement simply just, let's say, requires us to take an active stance to remain open.

And right there, I noticed that I had this conversation a few weeks ago with a colleague that I'm on a board with.

But the one thing that we have in common is that we both will try to look at bigger things that are happening in the world and look at the multiple publications to even understand.

see how different they are written just to get the perspective of knowing that we really are what our algorithm feeds us i i did not know the statistic 53 i'm not surprised but i'm also it's i'm not excited to see that in print
that that about 80 of that algorithmic communication is controlled by four companies

Like I have family members and I say this because geopolitical is very big here in the United States.

And I really am on a quest to build back that respectful way that we can love and connect because I hope that people don't assume all things are terrible about me because of a political belief.

Just in the same way, I don't think things are all terrible about someone else, but that requires, you said that it's that intention.
