The Tampa Bay Lightning opened the preseason with a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators, and the Last Call crew breaks down everything that stood out from Sunday night's win. Drawing from the postgame discussion and player interviews, they discuss the strong performances from Sam O'Reilly, Conor Geekie, John Carlson, and Ilya Mikheyev, while also examining Tampa Bay's dominant penalty kill and impressive puck management.
Greg Linnelli, Bobby "The Chief" Taylor, JP Peterson, and Brian Engblom discuss O'Reilly's mature two-way game, Geekie's game-winning goal, Carlson's seamless fit on the blue line, and why Victor Hedman looks rejuvenated heading into the season. Plus, hear comments from Jon Cooper, Sam O'Reilly, and Ilya Mikheyev as roster battles begin to heat up with only a few preseason games remaining. Tampa Bay gets the win, but the bigger story may be the depth and competition taking shape throughout the lineup.
