Design Destination: Palm Beach

Well, um, If we move on to today's topic, you know, if we're talking about sunny dispositions and sunny places, a really popular design destination that I think has become such a hot part of the zeitgeist in the last, I mean, it's always been iconic, but I think in the last five years, the pop popularity has really soared for Palm beach.

Um, obviously post COVID lots of New Yorkers and people from the East coast moved down there or, you know, spent time at their houses there and then decided that they were going to make it their permanent residence.

So they've seen this huge influx of people and, um, A lot of designers have decided to set up shop there.

The Kip Space Show House started in Palm Beach, I want to say about five years ago, maybe 2021, 2019.

And then they skipped 2020 and came back in 21.

So, you know, around the same timeline, similar timeline.

where it really became this buzzy design destination.

I feel like it's always in people's feeds.

The season, you know, the season has gotten much longer.

I feel like it used to be January to April and now people are going down for the season in November.

And I actually was just on the phone with my client whose home we did in Palm beach before this.

And she said, she's staying until June, June 1st this year.

Like they're just spending more time there.

It's

so hot down there.

It starts to get hot.

Yeah.

It starts to get hot.

Um, but anyhow, it's really, you know, become this sort of little cultural center for interior design and architecture and fashion even.

So what do you think, aside from these factors that we've talked about, has made it as popular as it has become?

Well, I think during COVID, obviously it was, um, Florida.

So everything was open and New York was so locked down.

And I think all New Yorkers who had the wherewithal were looking for someplace to land, to get out of the city.

And, um, there's always been that tight connection between New York and Palm beach.

And, um, an upper, upper echelon of wage earners in the United States.
