I find a lot that when parents are talking about, I don't want to shut them down or I want them to experience or I want them to discover.

But thinking that their child leading themselves and the parent following is going to create insecurity.

Like a child having to trust themselves before they understand what's happening in their life doesn't feel great to a child.

Like the instruction that comes with the parent is so healthy, right? But we talk a little bit about why that creates insecurity instead of security, because we all want our kids to be secure.
And so there's this sense of maybe it's fun for a minute, but at the same time, I feel stronger than my parents.
And back to what we're saying about parents trying the best they know how to do.
I mean, we sit with parents all the time who will say things like, really, I can still give consequences.
And I think so many experts, to your point, are really selling this on social media.
And we are living in this age where we're defaulting to whatever experts tell us what kind of pots and pans to buy, to what sheets that we need to buy, which we're hawking those things to on our podcast.
And so one of the biggest fallouts we've seen of that is that parents aren't trusting their own intuition.
