So what do you think it means to lead yourself first? So maybe you're an independent sty- or maybe when we're talking to our independent stylists or things like that.
So tell me, what does leading yourself first mean and why is it the foundation for all leadership?
leadership?I, I love that you asked that question, Heather, because the interesting thing was when I first started studying leadership, when I first realized, okay, one of the issues that we're having here in the salon is, is a lack of great leadership, like I need to learn something about this.
It was like a year long.
I had babies at home.
I was hustling behind the chair, but I was like, "I'm gonna do this.
I'm gonna figure it out." I had to go to Orlando afterwards and certify in front of John Maxwell himself, um, to become a...
And I actually, when I started studying it, I didn't even realize that I was studying to become this leadership ed- speaker, coach, and trainer.
I just was like, "Teach me what I need to know." And I went in with the idea that I wanted to lead other people well.
Like, that's kind of the idea that I went in with.
But what I learned, the essence of leadership, the, the whole thing has very, very little to do with other people.
Leadership stems from entirely the leadership of yourself.
Because if you're not leading yourself first, there's no way you're gonna be able to lead other people.
