Search "hip mobility golf" on YouTube and you'll find a hundred drills. The problem: if you fail a hip rotation test, there are at least six different underlying causes - from the TFL to the psoas to…
The problem of generic mobility exercises, generic drills, I think there's so much ability with phones and videos and everything that people will look at something and say, hey, your swing looks like that guy's, and this guy's doing this drill, so just do that drill.
Or, hey, your hip doesn't move, so here's a general exercise, just do that, because that's what somebody else whose hip didn't move did.
The generic prescription of whether it's drills from an instructional standpoint or exercises from a fitness or mobility or PT standpoint, it just needs to stop.
I want this to hopefully be, if you're just doing stuff that you've seen generically on YouTube or whatever, I want you to stop for a minute, listen to the next five minutes of this.
It will take less than five minutes of your time, and you will leave with a better understanding of how to actually do what's going to help you.
And I think that's the premise of everything that I started doing when I started P4S Golf and it's what we do in our team now is we're always looking like how can we eliminate everything that is not moving the needle? Because we're busy.
The way that you do that is by actually thinking of what is the specific thing I need to do.
