Petra HielkemaGuestJenny de NijsHostSo what would you say is one financial risk facing women that people, or women or men, don't tend to recognize until it's too late.

I think clearly had the difficulty with pensions is when are we going to think about our retirement? I mean, often by the time we're 50 plus, right? Which technically is too late when it comes to retirement.

I think there are many member states in the EU that still very much assume, the citizens, they assume that the government will take care of them in retirement.

and and for sure there will be state pensions the first pillar of pensions is very important but but the question is how much of that income is is how much percent is that of the income you're used to today and is that enough or would you like more and then if you say well i might actually need more um then maybe you actually you want to start saving earlier and early is as early as when you leave university because that's where you have as soon as you can essentially yes but then And then how do you save? Do you put it in a bank account or do you buy an investment product? Now here in general, again, we have a very risk-averse community in general in the EU.

And so considerations when you leave, for example, university to assess what you're going to do with your finance is a good moment.

But also if you buy a house, if you decide to live together with someone that you hopefully love a lot, or when you have babies, there are multiple, when you inherit, because you lose, unfortunately, a parent, I think these are all moments where that's a good lifetime moment to reassess, where am I on my pension savings? We don't do that enough.

And this is why, as IOPA, we very much would welcome auto-enrollment, which means that you automatically save additional pensions when you have a job.

And we would support that because you don't have to take a decision anymore.
Would you say that, well, this is one concrete contribution that IOPA can make in this debate.
