The Meffs have just released their incredible album Business! If you haven't given it a listen yet, do so, and then watch/listen to my album review to see if you agree! Listen to the album here…
Now, I was so fortunate to hear this album just before I had Lily on the show earlier this year.
And I heard it again this week before doing this review.
It's absolutely incredible.
And I would strongly recommend you listening to the album before hearing my review so you can have a feel of what I thought of it.
But also so it doesn't spoil it.
That's always my thought on these sorts of things.
So the first song is called Dreaming and it just starts with a bang.
It's a minute of in your face, fast paced drums, stomping guitars.
So, so good.
And then we've got track two.
What a nightmare.
Guitars straight in your ears, powerful lyrics about the issues stemming in society and who might be causing them.
What a nightmare indeed.
Great build up at the end too.
And that guitar just stays stuck in your head and went free.
three where did it all go wrong the third single from the album very melodic chorus and then after the after the second chorus chanting where did it all go wrong so good get stuck in your head and then they do it again after the third one again another great song and you would have heard that before the album got released i'm sure you all agree that that's a great song now the next song the fourth song on the album which was the first single and the title track business the mess are meaning absolute business it's the first single totally sums the album up perfect first single and as lily mentioned on the film on the full circle it's a bit of a bold choice it's the first song they released especially when they're talking about uk radio And not exactly in a positive way, but it just sounded incredible live as well.
So check that out and you have to see them live and here in business where they just start with that.
So good.
So, so good.
And then track five, Lore, sticking with the societal themes and getting it absolutely spot on.
Now, I don't know if this is controversial or not.
There's no denying that there's going to be some who might take the lyrics a little to heart.
but just tell me where the lies are in these lyrics tell me where the lies are feel free to comment where the lies are if you if you think there are lies in what the mess are saying in their lyrics another very catchy chorus and then we've got fight so they actually played this one live at all points east 30 seconds long another in your face banger and a hundred percent going to open the pits for sure as it did at all points east so so good And then, track seven, Disorder, Wake Up.
I hadn't initially clocked that I had heard this live before last December, when the Mets supported Million Dead, that's Frank Turner's old band, and I think they're now R.I.P., sadly.
