So who are you? This is a foundational question, but it's ironically not something we stop and ask ourselves, I don't think, often enough.

And then when someone asks us, we are sometimes left to pause and like, gosh, let me think about that.

And so one of the biggest things I encourage women to do is ask yourself this regularly, like check in with yourself.

you know, monthly, weekly, quarterly, yearly, depending on the kind of transition phases you're in in life.

And today we're going to take that information a little further because once you begin identifying who you are beyond your roles, titles, accomplishments, everything you do for everyone else, the next question becomes, what does knowing who I am mean? actually tell me about how I want to live? How do I take this information and really utilize it for my wellness, for my good? So this feels like timely really in our sphere of things here at the Embracing Layers Network because Defining Who I Am is also the title of section one in our Embracing Layers Unapologetically book, which had its two-year anniversary last Friday.

And that section within that includes accepting the layered aspects of ourselves, living out of your own expectations, and prioritizing self-care.

And when you look at those three things together, there's a progression there that I think is really important.

Then I can begin to determine what my expectations are for my life instead of allowing other people's expectations to define that for me.

When we don't know how to answer who we are, sometimes it's just easier to let other people define expectations for us.

It owns us because we haven't taken the time to really frame our lives, our expectations for our boundaries, how we care for ourselves around who we actually are.

So even though it may take a little time and effort, it really is worth it in the long run to help you really live into who you were truly created to be.

So when I can begin to understand who I am and begin to understand what my expectations for my life are, what actually fills my cup, not let others define that for me.

From there, I can better understand what I need to do to care for myself, what nourishes me, what allows me to show up fully resourced and present and mindful in all the spaces and places and relationships that I inhabit, because it's really difficult to answer those questions if I don't know who I am in the first place.
