Sandra Cattaneo Adorno: Why Street Photography Is Not About the Street

For me, street photography was a discovery.

I used to have a job that I went from A to B, and I had a time, at 3 o'clock I have to be there, and I didn't look around me.

So street photography opened something up that I said, oh my God, I'm living in this world and I'm not looking.

So it was really the first time at 60 years old that I looked around me.

What people were doing, they were screaming, fighting, laughing.

There's a hand here, a kiss here.

All this is happening and I never noticed it.

So that was amazing for me, that discovery.

It's as if I was in a bubble and then I burst the bubble.

Oh my God, I can have fun here.

There's a new world that I don't know.

So that was wonderful.

And I think I needed that.
