Is GPU mining finally back in 2026, or are we getting fooled by another short-lived profitability boom? In this episode of The Everyday Miner Podcast, we are joined by Red Fox Crypto to talk through…
yes yes they are on all the time absolutely uh for sure so i want to step back a little bit real quick though um because after ethereum we had lots of blips you mentioned this earlier and it's going to tie in a little bit to pearl and quantus that we talked about earlier because i know you gpu mined a lot of these blips what were some of them that you mined i know like after ethereum we looked at flux and ergo there was a lot of attention on those um but then after that like i know zealous was in there but what other ones really stick out to you that were a blip or a bubble you know and those eventually
popped i think probably the one that did the best was caspa when i could mine that on gpus which is funny to say now where caspa is at and how fast it seemed to go from gpu to then i mined it with an fpga and then how quickly it went to you know a6 the ice river ones and then The at-home ones and then the big boy ones.
That was probably the one I made the most money on was Casper, but you mentioned Flux until they went... know no gpu mining um trying to think what else was you mentioned zealous and dynex was another one in there like in that mix of like we're trying to figure out what how to survive after ethereum but there's way too much hardware in the in the world looking for a place to go and not a project that is proving its worth enough to go up in price to then take on all of that hardware so
yeah it was almost it was almost over mind so quickly right like all of a sudden it was like there's profits here and in two weeks it was gone what was the one i'm trying to think through some of the videos because you did a lot of videos over the last few years on like overclocking yeah on these
what was the uh wasn't there a prog pal one like a rate like uh there's a hero here okay i
overclocked videos
um yep yeah i don't know dude there's a bunch there's a bunch of them but none of them ever either went asics or they they went nowhere
know yeah yeah and i think i think that's the biggest challenge that i have seen and i think after you know the writing was on the wall like and i was quick to pivot you know after uh the ethereum merge you know i was quick to pivot into like my first bitcoin asic right s19j pro 104 terahash and i think that got a lot of my attention after that still had lots of gpus sold mfs off slowly you know didn't make buku bucks on them But everything seems to come back around.
And it seems like, you know, as you had said, like your 3090s, your 178Xs, those have done well from you from an asset appreciation perspective.
That's one thing that the GPUs have going for them that you don't traditionally see with ASICs.
Maybe the Z15 Pro, which has done very well, is kind of a unicorn in there in that regard.
