Mara Riopel and I have never had a catch-up where one of us wasn't walking through something hard. So when we sat down to record this one for both of our podcasts, we went straight to the real stuff…

You know, I wanted to actually open this hard conversation with how to be ambitious and still walk through real hard things in your life because you have been through a heap load of stuff.

And it seems like every time I talk to you, you're like, yeah, the kids got lice and now my husband has shingles.

And I'm like, well, mine has some kind of a weird spinal cord injury and my son has brain cancer.

But it's almost like we have these amazing businesses and we chose to build them because it's almost like a holiday, the gong show that is our lives sometimes.

I think that's what I would love to start with just because I know there's so many women out there that are so focused on what can I do to make money? How do I choose the thing? Blah, blah, blah.

You know, like we have to step up over and over and over and dealing with kids and dealing with life and dealing with all the things while trying to build a business.
And I think, you know, it's so interesting because I got an email this morning from my old business coach and the whole point of the email, her dad had passed away.
And so she was like, you know, the beauty of a business that you can walk away from and deal with life.
So like when I'm going through hard things or when shit hits the fan and working in my business is a distraction I need so I don't lose myself in the drama that is life.
