The Equestrian Founder #1: Fixing How We Sell Sport Horses - Laura St Clair

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

I am, my name is Laura St. Clair.

I'm a Hanoverian breeder, very small Hanoverian breeder.

But I am the co-founder and CEO of the new sport horse platform, Iconic.

It's I-C-O-N-E-Q.

We just call it Iconic.

But what Iconic is, is people like to say it's like Zillow for sport horses.

We're trying to really put all of the horses together on one platform because the registries are so distinct.

They all have their own sites.

We're trying to put everybody together and make it modern, beautifully presented.

fully searchable by any way you can almost imagine and completely frictionless to use.

So yeah, that's what we've created with Iconic and I'm excited to be on the podcast with you.

Yeah, so why don't we start by chatting a little bit about just your career with horses and sort of leading up to developing a tech platform.

Have you always had horses? Have you always been interested in the breeding side of it? Or how has your relationship and your career with horses been?

Yeah, absolutely.

Yes.

I grew up in a family where I had horses when I was a kid.

My family raised Arabian horses, very small again, but I had horses.

And I'm still an adult amateur dressage rider.

But really my passion at this point is I love the breeding aspect of it.

And I love, I really feel that it's an important time in our industry.

And, you know, I can share a lot more about what we're seeing happening and what we sort of saw two years ago.

It's been a little less than two years ago that we launched.

But yeah, so my claim to fame right now, I have a licensed Hanoverian stallion that I bred, so I'm super proud of him.
