Desiree StricklandHostNow, the first thing that I want you to think about if your public health idea will work Do people even need what you're trying to sell, right? A lot of times we will create something and we're thinking like, oh my God, that's such a great idea, but nobody wants it.
So I want to make sure that before you even say I'm going to start this business, I'm going to put all this time into it, that you are thinking about how do I know people will want it? Here's how you kind of figure out who wants this product, right? Number one, where does your ideal client hang out at? And for me, when I'm thinking about the Public Health Club, let's just say that.
So if you don't know about the Public Health Club, so the Public Health Club is my membership community where I teach public health professionals how to advance in their career, pivot in the tech, pivot in the biopharma, and then also build businesses.
Whatever side you're on, the career side or the entrepreneur side, the public health club meets you there and gives you the resources, the workshops, the trainings, the courses, everything that you need to get to that next level.
How did I come up with that idea? Number one, I came up with it because I knew that it was something that I did.
I was able to get to the six figure public health job, climb the corporate ladder.
Then I was able to make six figures in one year doing public health consulting through my own business.
But the goal is for you to understand the issues, right? Let's say you want to start a social media platform and you want to focus in on maternal health.
Where do those people who are talking about this thing, who are experiencing this thing, who would be your ideal customers or collaborators or whoever, where do they hang out? Let's get into the spaces that they hang out at and let's understand what they actually need so we can talk to them and understand what they want.
So if my clients are nonprofits, guess what? I'm about to be in these nonprofit Facebook groups.
Looking at the founders, I may slide to some nonprofit conferences to talk with the founders to get an understanding of what their problems are.
