To be human is to crave a cause. We all need a powerful purpose to get us out of bed every morning and draw out the finest within us. I viscerally believe that one of the dominant reasons so many…
[intro jingle] So what I wanted to talk about in this session is movement building.
Uh, you're likely an entrepreneur or a business builder, or even if you're not, you wanna lead a heroic life and build a movement in your own unique way.
But if you're a business builder, this, uh, session's gonna be really valuable to you because in many ways, we wanna take our brands and we wanna take the products that we produce, and we wanna build them into movements so that we have this global base of what I call fanatical followers.
So, um, I come to the 5 AM Club, which I spent four years writing, and the first lesson for movement building is really get the magic right.
What a lot of people do is they focus on marketing, and they focus on sales, and it's all about external strategy, uh, and yet they release a mediocre product.
What you wanna do is you wanna handcraft a product that when people use it, they fall in love with it, and they feel it's a little piece of magic in their lives.
And if you can do that, then people really will evangelize the product, especially in the world of social media.
Because ultimately, what you wanna do in business is help people live their dreams, help people live gorgeous lives.
So the first lesson is really produce magic before you worry about marketing or sales.
And what I mean by that is you build a movement of millions of followers of your products and brand one relationship at a time.
And that might sound like an old school strategy, but I think it's never been so relevant because so few people do it.
What I suggest to you is play the long game and put in the deep work required to build relationships with your consumers one relationship at a time.
And yes, it might take a little bit longer, but you will have a sustainable movement that has legs that stands the test of time.
Number three, how do you build a movement? Well, you constantly see yourself as an instrument of service.
If you've been following my work for a long time, you've hea- heard me share it for the past many years.
Make it your obsession bordering on a possession to give your consumers 10 times the value that they're paying for.
