George Wright III explains that elite performers succeed by doing important ordinary things with extraordinary consistency, not by relying on occasional intensity. He argues that life is shaped less…
You know, most people think their future is going to be determined by big decisions that they make, you know, the business they start or investments or opportunities, maybe even the relationship they build.
It's changed by the small things that you do consistently over time, like your routines and standards and disciplines.
You know, the way you start your morning can really determine how you basically build your best life.
The way you manage your energy and the way you spend, you know, your time when nobody's watching.
Those are the things that are important because habits are creating your future.
And every time you follow through on a commitment, you're reinforcing the identity that you're creating for yourself.
You know, every time you get up and train when you don't feel like doing it, you're reinforcing your identity.
The opposite is also true because every time you procrastinate or make excuses or lower your standards, every single time you tell yourself you're going to start tomorrow, you're actually reinforcing your identity as well.
What kind of person – are my current habits creating? Because whether you realize it or not, they are creating someone.
And this is where I think elite founders and high performers have an invisible advantage.
You know, you're going to see the money, the influence, the leadership and lifestyle, but we don't really see the thousands of small decisions and habits that actually created that person, that created the results.
We don't see the mornings they got up and, you know, the workouts and the planning and the reading, the difficult conversations and the times that they said no and made the decision not to do something.
