Raul P.GuestJoeHostYeah, and you get like it's – and you say that kind of introduced you to service, you know, you being of service to people.
Yes.
Fellowship because you're with – like you said, you're with a group of brothers who become your brothers, you know, brothers in recovery.
I know it, you know, maybe didn't stick, but that's like you've got like a good foundation for recovery that – I just, I was really interested in that because I'd heard of the program, but I never, I didn't know anybody who actually experienced the program.
So I appreciate you sharing kind of what you went through in that.
You know, I wanted to go back because you talked about growing up and I know you had, you know, you know you said your dad was real strict your mom had addiction issues you ended up um you know you guys had to go into foster care so stability was really you didn't really have stability growing up no it

was stability i did not have stability i didn't have um i didn't know so the relationship with my dad was like um I had a lot of fear talking to him, right? I couldn't go with him through advice.

My first experience in trying to talk to him was, I remember I was in elementary and he calls me to the living room.

He's like, hey, like, I want to know, like, do you know how to defend yourself? Like, do you know how to fight? And in my head, I'm like, yeah, I know how to fight, right? And so what does he do? He slaps the shit out of me.

So that built more fear, right? I was like, oh, shit, he's just going to beat my ass again, right? But with my kids today, I try to build that relationship with them.

I don't want them to go through life with feeling like they have to be worried if I'm going to get mad over the simplest things.

And I want them to be able to trust me because growing up, me and my mom were really close.

Like a lot of her friends, they didn't like how she how me and her had their relationship was because they always said that she was enabling me because every time I get locked up like she's the first person that I call right like I was a mama's boy like I'm gonna go to mom for everything right but with having my dad was in the picture but having that relationship was was a little tough right so with my kids like I try to give them that father daughter father son relationship that I always wanted right
so Well, I can imagine, you know, when you're going through and you're in your, you know, your addiction, you know, you're in and out of jail.
And so, you know, you're, I'm just not, you know, you're not being the father you want to be, you know, you can be.
