Chicago Public School Board Election - Presidential Candidate, Hilario Dominguez

I was going to say, what should voters understand about the power and responsibilities of the position of school board president?

That's a great question.

They should understand that the school board president decides what goes on the agenda, which means every school board member gets one vote.

The school board president decides what those votes will be on.

So in other words, school board president quite literally decides what the priorities of the district will be.

I'll give you a tangible solution, a tangible thing to think about.

One thing our campaign has been talking about is better school lunches.

Better food.

Right now, our vendor that serves our students that we pay $100 million a year to is the same vendor that serves food in prisons and at ICE facilities.

That's not the Magic Johnson Company.

No.

You know Magic Johnson owns a school vendor company.

No, this is Airmark.

This is the company that actually was beat up not too long ago because schools were filthy.

They also had the...

No, I remember Aramark because they also had a contract in District 209 in the same issue.

I remember reporting on the same issue several years ago.

Bad school lunches.

I think Magic Johnson is an investor in Aramark, if I'm not mistaken, but that's a private company.

that is in public schools, they get a lot of flack.

And it's interesting to see that they're in CPS now.

Yeah.

Getting $100

million to sell.

But here's to Big Bro's question.
